Fed Up With Politics! Who Would You Vote For President?

VoteI am crazy frustrated with the presidential candidates for the upcoming election. Ahhhh…. Maybe you've already selected the "perfect" leader from what seems to be a very "imperfect" list, but I'm struggling. It is important for every Christian to vote! But I recognize there are not many things that pastors can blog about that get people more wound up than politics- not to mention the IRS. So in a loving and irreverent nature, how about we push the envelope a little and ask "the forbidden question?" Limited to the candidates below, who would likely get your vote for president? All of these types of "candidates" can be found in today's politics… but if you pay attention, all of them are actually Biblical characters.

Candidate #1 – Has an agricultural background, but little experience in leading people

Candidate #2 – Known to lose his temper and is known to be a poor public speaker

Candidate #3 – Fierce at times, known to fold under pressure – has a problem working with women

Candidate #4 – Seems very practical, politically aware, cooperative, a good economist, cares for the underprivileged and dresses well

Candidate #5 – Lots of potential but considered by most to be far too young for the position

Candidate #6 – Lacks tact and can be very harsh. His appearance is contemptible, and he talks way too long

Candidate #7 – Hot tempered, impetuous, and has denied being a Christian more than once

Candidate #8 – His family life is in shambles - married a known prostitute

Candidate #9 – Well-liked, but has quite a history with women and moral failure

Candidate #10 – When in trouble with the authorities he tries to lie his way out

Candidate #11 – Emotional, an alarmist, some say he is a real pain in the neck but he has been known to get some things done

Candidate #12 – Brags about his "Baptist" upbringing but looks and acts more like a hippie than politician

I know it's too little information - but the reality is that it's not a government who saves a nation, believers do with Christ. In proposing Biblical candidates I'm only clarifying that there never will be a person who can take the place of Christ. Could you tell who I'm talking about? See the following blog to see who your first choice was in history. And for Pete's sake – no hanging chads. Each of these "characters" remind me of certain politicians in today's world. My point? There will never be a perfect government! At least not until the return of Christ… and just in case you're wondering what party He is affiliated with… He will be neither a republican nor democrat (and if you are Libertarian, Independent, or Green Party – then you're really going to be dissapointed). The greatest leader history will ever see will be a Benevolent Dictator and He will lead as a King. His name is Jesus! In the meantime, just make sure you vote AND PRAY! So who did you vote for?
