Tulsa Mayfest

This past Friday my family and I got to go and enjoy Tulsa's Mayfest.
It was F-U-N!

• We got to see our friend Mandy Hill sing. She rocked!
• Walked around.
• Played Djembe with my son in a drum circle...AWESOME!



• I was SURPRISED to find a food vendor selling Filipino style eggroll aka "Lumpia". Bought one. Ate one. I like my version better.
• Saw some pretty wonderful artists and their work. I wish i could just take an art piece or 2 home with me.
• Walked around some more with some friends.
• Karen got some deep fried pickles with ranch and enjoyed them. [*shudder...]
• I got me a funnel cake...YUM!
• At the end of the night we wanted to get rid of the rest of our tickets so we decided to try some smoked hotdogs with barbecue sauce...OOH! That was a VERY good decision.
• We headed back to the car and on the way got some FREE "Full Throttle" energy drink...not bad.

We had fun...I think we'll be doing this again next year.
SIDE NOTE: Mayfest is like the fair but without the carnies or a 1000lb. pig with HUGE cojones! It's like Tulsa Fair...Lite!

Finally

Karen + Me = date night!

We were given this past Monday off so we took advantage of it and spent a couple of hours sans TK (BIG shout out to Nicole for baby sitting!).

I've been wanting to see U23D but it just kept getting pushed in the back burner. So when Karen asked me what movie I wanted to see on our date night it was a no brainer!

Man, it lived up to all the hype and THEN some! I also enjoyed the fact that there were only 6 people, including us, in the whole IMAX theater.

U23D will definitely be a standard. I already saw ads for the "Rolling Stones" and it's own IMAX version of their concert...I appreciate who they are and what they've done but not really a fan (no hate emails/comments please).

I think watching this movie will be as close as I can get to being on stage WITH U2...well, at least for now...hehe!

I absolutely loved the fact that I got to hold my wife's hand, uninterupted...except for when she reached for some popcorn and soda, for 85 minutes straight! Then capped the evening off with a trip to Chik-fil-A's drive through (combo #1 with lettuce and provolone cheese, hold the pickles for me and cookies and cream milkshake for the lady)...ah, life is grand!

Anyway...go see it if you can!

Music Department Party

We had our world famous (well, at least our corner of the world) party last night. Fun and merriment was had by all. It was a Mexican themed party so we had lots of Mexican food, tons of yummy desserts and a blistering round of a traditional Mexican game called "Catch Phrase" (girls vs. guys...girls won but we're submitting a protest to the commissioner).
