Why do I blog?
Why do I twitter?
Why do I facebook?
Are my opinions, thoughts, ideas or point of view THAT important? Important enough for the World Wide Web to know?
I get the whole "this is MY way of journaling or capturing and encapsulating my thoughts" angle...I really do. But if it's TRULY just for you to record your history...why publish it for all to see?
There are TONS of "blogstars" and "twittelebrities" out there who have TONS of "subscribers" and "followers"...and yet they are virtually unknown. What does this tell us about our society...our culture as a whole?
...
Why do YOU blog?
Why do YOU twitter?
Why do YOU facebook?
I do it for the money.

I don't blog. I barely twitter (Mostly I just follow people who are funny) But I like Facebook because I can keep up with people and have reconnected with some people that I had lost track of.

I think the whole blogging thing is more for a global network of passing along information. There are specific informational blogs and then there are just day to day informational blogs, but as a whole blogging is information from one person or group to another person or group. Whether it is information that is being handed down or being requested is generally the only major difference.
So why do I blog? To either talk about something I'm going through, have been through or about to go through. I might be handing off information I've learned through a process in hopes of reminding myself later or perhaps helping someone else who is going through it or could go through it later in life.
Also, I think it is a way of people saying "hey I'm human and I'm dealing with this and would like help" or "YAY!!!, I'm happy and want others to share in my happiness."
Facebook/Myspace and all that jazz is just as simple in that people can leave a quick note to say hello, or catch up with old friends they don't see all too often or have lost contact with over the years. I'm not big on Facebook/Myspace simply because I think it is quickly becoming over-commercialized and to much "junk" gets passed through it.
Twittering... well, I haven't really figured out this one yet simply because I do have a twitter account, but I don't use it that much because I don't think ANYBODY'S life is so important I need to know up to the second play by play of their day. Now if Jesus was using Twitter, I'd want that tweet for sure. Plus, something tells me Jesus is about the only one who could actually communicate effectively a message in 140 characters or less.
That's my little piece of the digital pie.

Honestly...I don't really like to blog or twitter a whole lot, because I'm not that great of a writer nor witty enough for Twittering!! However, I can honestly say that Pastor Mark completely influenced me in this area while serving at Destiny. He really gave me the inspiration to push through my own struggles insecurities in order to use blogging as a tool to communicate God's heart to others. However, I could still use a stiff kick in the pants from him every now and then to keep the discipline up;);) Peace!

Great question...
I blog for a few reasons... Sometimes I am writing to communicate something to people. Sometimes I write to get my thoughts out of my head and onto "paper" and, as a side note, some other people read it.
I tweet to "talk" to people and to know what they are thinking or what's going on in their world.
Facebook is primarily to connect with family/friends and to know what's going on with a far larger group of people than I could keep up with otherwise (to some degree that applies to all three - blog, twitter, Facebook)
And of course there's a tiny bit of narcissism mixed in there somewhere I think...
So there it is... I think.

Honestly, I am so busy that staying connected through the internet is the only way I can most of the time. I blog because I am a writer. That is my profession. I am also a teacher because writing doesn't pay very well...yet.
